Photographer | Storyteller | Birth Doula

supporting you in creating your best birth story.

YEG birth story was created with the dream that I could combine my passions for birth work and photography into one. I wanted to go beyond the role of "photographer" in supporting families but I didn't want to give up my burning desire to create. I didn't want to stop telling your stories. I want to tell more stories. I want to tell your BEST birth story.

a little bit about how I came to this...

my "why"

I first became a mama in 2020 + it was all unknown to me. All I ever heard about birth was that it was scary, painful + that I should DEFINITELY get an epidural. The "scary" and "painful" parts became normalized to me. Birth is horrible for everyone... isn't it? Oh how wrong I was.

My hope is to empower, educate + support families along their journey to parenthood while capturing one of life's most beautiful and wild rides.

The consult

A free consult to anyone interested in booking with me for their doula support. This is an opportunity where we get to meet in person or via Zoom + discuss what exactly I offer + get to know one another a little better!

The prenatal visit(s) + Ongoing Support

The prenatal visits are where we get to meet in person (usually in your home). We talk about your birth wishes/plans, discuss pain management options + plan for postpartum. Throughout your pregnancy, I am available to you via text, email and phone call. I will also be in touch with you sharing resources + information along the way.

Labour + Birth Support

I will be by your side throughout your labour and birth. Labour and birth support often looks like light touch massage, counter pressure, advocating to your health care professional(s) - sticking to your birth wishes, emotional support, relaxation, breathing techniques, supporting your partner + giving you information to make informed decisions.

The postpartum visit(s)

I will come visit you once baby is born and you're settled in at home (usually between 1 week - 4 weeks postpartum). I bring with me a little goodie basket for you and baby and we chat about how things have been going. If you are booking additional postpartum support, I can assist you with: infant feeding, bathing, soothing, comforting and household support.

frequently asked questions | FAQ

Do I have to pay in full to book with you?

A retainer is required to book but the remainder of the payment is spread throughout our time together. If you're worried about payment - contact me + let's chat!

Does a doula replace a midwife or OBGYN?

No - a doula does not provide any medical support or advice. A doula is simply an additional support; a part of your birthing team but does not replace your health care professional.

How soon should I book with you?

The beauty of this question is that it's entirely up to you! You can book with me when you're 4 weeks pregnant or when you're 34 weeks pregnant. I'm here for YOU + what YOU need.

what if I want to have a hospital birth, can i still hire you?

Of course! Whether you want to birth at home, in hospital or at a local birthing centre - I will be there to support you! As of right now, most hospitals within the Edmonton area allow you to have 2 support people in the delivery room.

do you support people who only want a natural birth?

Absolutely not -- I am here for YOU. If you want an epidural - I'll be the one bugging the anesthesiologist to get on it. If you want to bottle feed - I'll be the one sanitizing the bottles for you! My hope is to help empower + educate families into making informed choices that work best for them - WHATEVER that may be! This is a judgement free zone (always).

Do you work with clients living outside of Edmonton?

Yes! I hope to support families living in Edmonton and surrounding areas. If you're not in YEG but you're interested in booking - connect with me!
